!!Spoiler Warning !!
These are some of the saddest moments in anime.
10) Jiraiyah (Naruto) Death
Jiraiya spends his final moments continuing to think about Naruto, and decides that it is he, not Nagato, who is the Child of the Prophecy. Jiraiya is confident the world is in good hands if Naruto is to be its salvation. Satisfied with how this final chapter of his life has turned out, Jiraiya officially ends what he titles the Tale of Jiraiya the Gallant . Before he dies, Jiraiya decides that the sequel should be called the Tale of Naruto Uzumaki , and smiles at how good the title is.
9) L (Death Note)
The fact that Death Note actually killed off the brilliant antagonistic hero of the story is shocking enough as is, but it comes after a long, twisting plot featuring several successors to the “Kira” mantle, a stretch where Light loses his memories, and a finale that had Light manipulate a Shinigami into doing the killing for him. It comes at a tense, surprising moment, and though it’s one of many simple heart attacks, losing such a hopeful hero at all strikes a chord.
8) Teresa (Claymore) Death
Teresa is the 182nd claymore of the 77th generation in the organization, formerly ranked as No.1. She is among the eight No.1 warriors capable of surpassing the original Abysmal origins, considered even to be the strongest ever created. She is also regarded as the most powerful character in the series for her unparalleled combat ability, Yoki perception, and Yoki reserve; even against an awakened Rosemary or a near-awakened Priscilla, a mere ten-percent energy release was enough to overpower them.
She was nicknamed "Teresa of the Faint Smile" (微笑のテレサ, Bishō no Teresa, lit. "Smiling Teresa") for the faint smiles that graced her face as she effortlessly slaughtered her enemies.
7) Kanade Tachibana (Angel Beats) Death
Naoi, Yuri and Hinata soon move on and disappeared, leaving Otonashi and Kanade. Otonashi then invites her to walk outside with him saying that he wants to feel the wind on his face. While outside Otonashi confesses to her that he loves her and he finds out that Kanade has his heart, which he donated in his final moments. Kanade soon reveals that the true reason that she was in the afterlife was because she was looking to thank the person who had given her the gift of life through the heart; as it turns out, it was Otonashi's heart beating in Kanade's chest at the last moments of her life.
After thanking him for giving her an extended life, she disappears leaving Otonashi in tears and despair.
6) Hughes (Fullmetal Alchemist) death
Hughes was researching Armestris 's history, trying to connect the Homunculus to major events in the nation's history. Just as he started connecting the dots, a mysterious woman walks in and attacks him, saying that he knows too much. Although wounded, Hughes managed to also wound his assailant. He then decides not to use the phone in his office, instead limping to a phone booth outside to relay the information. He is then confronted by "Maria Ross" , who pointed a gun at him. He quickly realizes that the Maria Ross he was talking to was an imposter, and turns to attack. However, he is stopped when the attacker transformed into his wife, and could not bring himself to attack the person, and is killed by his inability to fight back
5) Nicholas Wolfwood(Trigun) Death
Wolfwood is raised by an abusive guardian, whom he later shoots and kills. He is taken in by Chapel the Evergreen, who trains him to become his eventual successor in the Gung-Ho Guns. He meets Vash while he is stranded in the desert, and the two join forces. During the course of the series, Wolfwood develops a relationship with Milly Thompson that crosses from close friendship into romance. Wolfwood's purpose is to raise money for the children in the orphanage he runs, trying to keep other children from suffering as he did in his own childhood. He initially holds the ideals that he must kill, though he eventually comes to accept Vash's ideals. He eventually fights his master, but spares him after defeating him. Legato Bluesummers controls Chapel and forces him to shoot Wolfwood, who stumbles into a church. He spends his last moments reflecting on his life and making a final confession before dying. He shouted out his last words in a confused manner: "I did not want to die this way!" But after saying this, there is a long silence as he comes to a final realization, and dies with a smile on his face. He died leaning against his weapon, showing irony in that his weapon which took so many lives is shaped like a Cross and ends up being the only object holding him up after he dies.
4) Ace, Whitebeard (One Piece) Death
Pirates value gold, power, and adventures. While as Whitebeard just wanted a family. From reader's perspective that is a noble cause. But when we see Whitebeard, he was willing to make a last stand to save so many of crewmembers from miserable lives either from death or becoming slaves of the to Celestial Dragons. A family…now that truly cemented Whitebeard badassery!
Ace's love for his brother
We had seen the pattern before. Luffy gets himself in a dire situation and Ace shows up to save the day. What happened in Alabasta was a glimpse into the future, only a darker one to be exact.
The pattern gets reversed for a minute when Luffy storms into the war of the best. He was there to save his brother and nothing else mattered for him. After some epic battles and probably one of the best arcs in the history of anime(you know i’m not exaggerating :P), we finally watch Ace getting saved by Luffy and the others there.
One of the most hated characters(at least for me :)) appears to get the pattern reversed once again and back to its original state. Akainu attacks with all his might and Ace does what we have seen him do several times. He gets the punch through his chest, only to save his beloved brother Luffy. Until the last moment, he loves his brother to the death.
3) Komugi and Mureum (HXH) Death
Meruem confesses he has been poisoned and that he will die shortly. He reveals his last wish was to play with her, but warns her that the poison is contagious. However, she simply counters his move and chooses to stay with him, leading Meruem to believe he was born to experience that moment.
Meruem eventually goes blind and keeps asking Komugi if she is still there as they play. He notes that he never managed to beat her. After a while, he declares he feels tired. He asks Komugi to hold his hand while he sleeps, then if she will still be by his side when he wakes up. Komugi swears she'll never leave him, so Meruem thanks her. He asks her to say his name one last time before passing away.
2) Nina (Full Metal Alchemist) Death
After being alchemically fused with the family dog, Alexander, by her father, Shou Tucker, Nina inhabits the body of a dog-like beast. This creature has a brown mane the same color as Nina's original hair. This chimera has the ability to speak, as did the chimera Tucker created from his wife.
From what is known, most likely Alexander was a breed of dog known as a Great Pyrenees. After the Chimera is fused Alexander loses his white fluffy appearance for a peach skinned hybrid creature with a carpet of hair growing out of its back. It is also noted that Nina seems to be a bit unsure of her memories and her own fate after the transfusion.
1) Ushio (Clannad) Death
Shortly after Tomoya sets things right, Ushio is struck with the same disease as Nagisa and despite the efforts and sacrifices that Tomoya, Akio and Sanae made, Ushio's fever never subsides but actually worsens. In the coming winter, being filled with desperation of wanting to do anything for Ushio, Tomoya brings her for a trip, but she falls unconscious and dies shortly after along with her father who succumbed to his grief.
